ROHI MACHHA TARKARI




Rohu Fish–500gms
Potatoes–2 medium size (peel and cut into cube size)
Chopped Onion-1 big
Chopped Tomatoes-1 medium
Ginger– 1/2 inch
Garlic-5-6 cloves
Panch phutan or whole garam masala-1 tsp
Cumin seeds-1 tsp
Dry Red chilis-2
Bay leaves-2
Sugar-1/2 tsp
Red chili powder-1 tsp or to taste
Turmeric powder-1 tsp+1 tsp
Coriander powder-1/2 tsp
Garam masala powder-1/2 tsp
Chopped coriander leaves-1 tbsp
Mustard Oil-4 tbsp
Salt to taste

METHOD:-

1-Wash fish properly and marinate with 1 tsp turmeric powder and 1 tsp salt.
2-Grind Cumin seeds,ginger,Garlic,red chilis and a little water to make a fine paste.Keep aside
3-In a pan heat 2 tbsp of mustard oil and fry the fish till golden brown.Keep them aside.
4-Heat 1 tbsp oil in a pan and lightly fry the potatoes for 5-6 mins.Keep them aside.
5-Heat 1 tbsp oil in the same pan,add 1/2 tsp sugar to the oil.when the sugar started caramelise add panch phutan or whole garam masala and bay leaves.
6-When seeds start cracking add the chopped onions,cook till golden brown.Then add masala paste and fry for 30 seconds.










7-Then add turmeric,red chili powder,coriander powder,garam masala and salt.Stir properly.
8-Add chopped tomatoes and cook till fry till tomatoes gets mashed up then add potatoes.
9-Mix properly and add 2 cups of water,stir well,cover the lid and let it cook in medium flame for 6-8 mins.
10-Add the fried fishes and cook it further for about 4-5 minutes.Stir well.
11-Garnish with chopped coriander leaves.Serve hot with Rice and enjoy.
